Co2 Fractional Laser has been the gold standard approach among the resurfacing lasers. It is the laser when we tend to see the results in the very first session. Collagen contraction and remodeling of collagen is the mode of action of this 10600 nm laser with target chromophore being water. It has varied applications when used in different safety parameters.

Uses of the laser:

• Ablative mode: Removal of warts, seborrheic keratosis, syringomas, xanthelasma, skin tags and any king of skin growth.

• Fractional mode: Acne scars, stretch marks, surgical scars, chickenpox scars

• Skin Rejuvenation

• Undereye ageing

• Anti-Ageing modality

• Vaginal mode:  Vaginal laser rejuvenation, Vaginal tightening

Caution:

Repeat application of sunscreen is mandatory following laser sessions especially in Indian skin. Hyperpigmentation of the skin in ethnic skin is a concern. Strict sun protection is must.

Expected response:

Following skin irradiation with co2 fractional laser, frosting is expected immediately after laser which will turn brownish black in few hours. This mesh type network or flakes will dry up and peel off in next 5-7 days. This downtime is a limitation in using this laser in people with front desk jobs or regular public dealing.

This laser can be combined with other modalities like Radiofrequency, chemical peels and subcision to achieve desirable results.
